Consumers Are Making Energy Savings Agreements

Submitted by: Eliz Guide

There is a new trend underway that could save consumers a lot of money, and it is an energy savings agreement. The best explanation for this type of plan is an insurance policy of sorts for the things in the home that keep residents comfortable, safe, and happy. This would include the furnace, air conditioner, refrigerator, freezer, and the many other types of appliances that are needed to keep a home running year round.

An energy savings agreement is sometimes referred to as an ESA. This type of a contract will more than return the investment in about one year because of increased savings that will be seen in the electric and gas bill.

Many companies that offer this type of service also offer a discount on any repairs that they find that would absolutely have to be done. Preventative maintenance will extend the life of things like the air conditioner, and the customer will have the highest priority with the company should they have to call for repairs of any kind.

Some of the types of things that are checked on a regularly scheduled basis with an energy savings agreement include but are not limited to:

Making sure the thermostat is working properly

Replace all filters that need to be replaced

Check the furnace to make sure that it is operating efficiently

Check the air conditioner to make sure it is charged and working properly

Other types of services that are included in an energy savings agreement would be checking for frayed or broken wires, looking for leaks in the refrigeration unit, checking to make sure that the fans on both the furnace and air conditioner are functioning as they were intended to, making sure that the freezer is defrosting properly, checking fuses and breaker boxes, making sure that light fixtures are functioning properly, looking for shorts in the wiring, and other types of things that may make a home run less efficiently.

If an energy savings agreement is available to a customer in their area and they would like more information about it, they can call or visit the website of their local power provider or licensed HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) service center. They will find out exactly what the cost of this type of a plan will be, and what the schedule is for maintaining a preventative maintenance program.

It only makes sense to consider this type of plan. After all, people insure their lives, their vehicles, their homes, their children, and the many different types of recreation such as RV s, boats, campers, jet skis and motorcycles; it only makes sense to ask for the same type of coverage for the things in the home that make them happy, keep them comfortable, and maintain their lifestyle.

The adage that says an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure is absolutely true and definitely holds even truer for the things in the home that are relied upon. The last thing anyone would want to deal with is an air conditioner that isn t working when it is 105 degrees outside!

Al Sharpton speaks out on race, rights and what bothers him about his critics

Monday, December 3, 2007

At Thanksgiving dinner David Shankbone told his white middle class family that he was to interview Reverend Al Sharpton that Saturday. The announcement caused an impassioned discussion about the civil rights leader’s work, the problems facing the black community and whether Sharpton helps or hurts his cause. Opinion was divided. “He’s an opportunist.” “He only stirs things up.” “Why do I always see his face when there’s a problem?”

Shankbone went to the National Action Network’s headquarters in Harlem with this Thanksgiving discussion to inform the conversation. Below is his interview with Al Sharpton on everything from Tawana Brawley, his purported feud with Barack Obama, criticism by influential African Americans such as Clarence Page, his experience running for President, to how he never expected he would see fifty (he is now 53). “People would say to me, ‘Now that I hear you, even if I disagree with you I don’t think you’re as bad as I thought,'” said Sharpton. “I would say, ‘Let me ask you a question: what was “bad as you thought”?’ And they couldn’t say. They don’t know why they think you’re bad, they just know you’re supposed to be bad because the right wing tells them you’re bad.”

Civilians testify to Halliburton fraud, coercion

June 28, 2005

The Democratic Party held a public committee, aired on C-SPAN 3, at which former civilian employees based in or administering operations in Iraq, testified to specific instances of waste, fraud, and other abuses and irregularities by Halliburton and its subsidiary Kellogg, Brown and Root (KBR).

Allegations of fraud by Halliburton, specifically with regard to its operations in Iraq, have persisted since before the Iraq War. The associations between U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and Halliburton, have been the basis for repeated speculation over possible political improprieties and business profiteering from the war.

Among the senators and representatives present at the hearing were Byron Dorgan (presiding), Henry Waxman, Frank Lautenberg, and Mark Dayton.

Among those testifying were Bunny Greenhouse, former Chief Contracting Officer of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rory Mayberry, former Food Program Manager for Halliburton subsidiary, and Allan Waller, of the Lloyd-Owen International security and operations firm.

Greenhouse, who provided the bulk of testimony, spoke for several minutes about her involvement in the evaluation and crafting of government Army contracts, and how explaining how superiors undermined and dismissed her concerns of illegal business practices. “Ultimately my main concern was the repeated insistence that the Rio contract be awarded to KBR without competitive bidding,” Greenhouse said. She testified to have been given misinformation in answer to her complaints, and being “overtly misled” by KBR managers.

Mayberry, still in Iraq, testified by video from questions prepared by the committee. He said that KBR routinely sold expired food rations to the Army. The interviewer asked, “Are you saying that Halliburton deliberately falsified the number of meals they prepared and then submitted false claims for reimbursement and that they did this to make up for past amounts auditors had disallowed?” Mayberry firmly answered “Yes.” He said that serving expired food ration was “an everyday occurrence, sometimes every meal.” He explained that Halliburton systematically overcharged for the number of meals as well, saying, “they were charging for 20,000 meals and they were only serving 10,000 meals.” Dorgan later commented, “obviously there’s no honor here, by a company that would serve outdated food to our troops in Iraq.”

Mayberry also claimed would-be whistleblowers were threatened “to be sent to Falluja” and other “places under fire” if they talked to media or governmental oversight officials. In 2003 and 2004, Falluja had been well known as dangerous for foreign troops and civilians. “I personally was sent to Falluja for three weeks. The manager told me that I was being sent away until the auditors were gone, because I had talked to the auditors,” Mayberry said.

“The threat of being sent to a camp under fire was their way of keeping us quiet. The employees who talked to auditors were sent to camps under more fire than other camps, and Anaconda.” This report led Dorgan and others to voice considerable outrage that U.S. citizens would be personally threatened with harm for talking to oversight officials or media.

Allan Waller testified to specific examples of how KBR officials had conspired in blocking Lloyd-Owen fuel transports, and using other coercive means against its competitor. The British Lloyd-Owen has a direct contract with the Iraq government to provide fuel to various parts of the country.

In his introductory remarks, Dorgan explained that Senate Republicans had blocked or ignored any requests by Democrats to have a formal bipartisan hearing, resulting in the need for an independent committee.

5 Signs You Should Outsource Your Ppc

It is due to the technical advancements that even the most experienced marketing veterans may fail to establish an effective PPC campaign. You need to hire a PPC Company in London o order to take advancement of potential facet of the platform.

The PPC experts charge a good amount for their work and there are good enough reasons behind it.

1. Keyword research is not easy: The whole concept of PPC depends upon the keyword research. Experts spend a lot of time on this crucial process of finding the right keywords. Wrong keywords can be exhausting, both in the terms of budget and efforts. Moreover, you will end up wasting your time as well.

The right Google Adwords agency in the UK will focus on the right keywords since day 1 and the results will be breathtaking. The experts don’t rely on tools only but, they use all their experience and vision to target the right path.

2. The wrong ad campaign will ruin your conversion rate: The right ad campaign calls for an effective competitive research campaign. It is difficult to move forward without the right kind of backhand work. No amateur can perform this research effectively.

Every word is important and the right campaign and sky-rocket your conversion rate. Whereas the bad copy will not produce the right message and forget about the results. It may end up in bringing less traffic but you will waste lots of money during the journey.

3. Technical expertise for tracking: PPC involves a bigger task of analyzing the original source of traffic. Once you know where your traffic is originating from, it will become easier for you to track that source. Google Analytics will guide you with the specific keywords and placements that can bring conversions.

The process involves HTML tracking codes and knowledge of webmaster as well. It needs technical expertise to sail through the process efficiently.

4. Campaign set up: If you want optimum exposure for your campaigns, there are a few potential settings that should be adjusted. For example, you need to know about geographical settings in order to set up the right country.

Different locations local, statewide, national or worldwide are set up in different ad groups. There are different bids, partner networks and filters required. Only experts can do this efficiently. 5.The vast PPC terminology: PPC is not the single abbreviation involved in the process of ad campaigning. There are various other terms like CPM, CPC, CPA etc which are hard to crack for a layman. There are impressions, views and hits and not everyone has an idea what they are? There is no point in targeting campaigns if you are unaware of the basic PPC terminology.

Surgeons reattach boy’s three severed limbs

Tuesday, March 29, 2005A team of Australian surgeons yesterday reattached both hands and one foot to 10-year-old Perth boy, Terry Vo, after a brick wall which collapsed during a game of basketball fell on him, severing the limbs. The wall gave way while Terry performed a slam-dunk, during a game at a friend’s birthday party.

The boy was today awake and smiling, still in some pain but in good spirits and expected to make a full recovery, according to plastic surgeon, Mr Robert Love.

“What we have is parts that are very much alive so the reattached limbs are certainly pink, well perfused and are indeed moving,” Mr Love told reporters today.

“The fact that he is moving his fingers, and of course when he wakes up he will move both fingers and toes, is not a surprise,” Mr Love had said yesterday.

“The question is more the sensory return that he will get in the hand itself and the fine movements he will have in the fingers and the toes, and that will come with time, hopefully. We will assess that over the next 18 months to two years.

“I’m sure that he’ll enjoy a game of basketball in the future.”

The weight and force of the collapse, and the sharp brick edges, resulted in the three limbs being cut through about 7cm above the wrists and ankle.

Terry’s father Tan said of his only child, the injuries were terrible, “I was scared to look at him, a horrible thing.”

The hands and foot were placed in an ice-filled Esky and rushed to hospital with the boy, where three teams of medical experts were assembled, and he was given a blood transfusion after experiencing massive blood loss. Eight hours of complex micro-surgery on Saturday night were followed by a further two hours of skin grafts yesterday.

“What he will lose because it was such a large zone of traumatised skin and muscle and so on, he will lose some of the skin so he’ll certainly require lots of further surgery regardless of whether the skin survives,” said Mr Love said today.

The boy was kept unconscious under anaesthetic between the two procedures. In an interview yesterday, Mr Love explained why:

“He could have actually been woken up the next day. Because we were intending to take him back to theatre for a second look, to look at the traumatised skin flaps, to close more of his wounds and to do split skin grafting, it was felt the best thing to do would be to keep him stable and to keep him anaesthetised.”

Professor Wayne Morrison, director of the respected Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery and head of plastic and hand surgery at Melbourne’s St Vincent’s Hospital, said he believed the operation to be a world first.

Cellulite Treatments Vital Facts And Information

Cellulite Treatments – Vital Facts And Information

by

Luke Cole

Cellulite is a common term used to describe overfilled fat pockets right under your skin. These are fat cells that have become enlarged causing these cells to take up more space between the skin\’s connective tissues than normal. The fat then expands these spaces resulting in the overlying skin dimpling, often called the orange peel effect.

It appears in ninety percent of post-adolescent women and is rarely seen in men. Common areas where cellulite is found, are the thighs, buttocks, and the abdomen. Contrary to popular belief, cellulite is not related to obesity, since it occurs in overweight, normal, and thin women. Cellulite causes many image problems and many women avoid wearing short skirts or shorts because of it.

Some of the contributing factors for developing cellulite are:

Heredity. However, you can still do a lot to fight cellulite.

Not drinking enough water. Water helps flush toxins and waste from your body. Drink seven to eight glasses of water a day.

Diet. Poor eating habits (alcohol, caffeine, spicy or fatty foods) contribute to the formation of cellulite because the toxins they produce get trapped in the fatty tissue. Saturated fats block the arteries and get trapped in the tissue as well, preventing sufficient waste and toxin elimination.

Smoking is not only bad for the skin and lungs, but it weakens the skin by causing constriction of capillaries. It also damages the connective tissue and can increase the dimpling effect of cellulite.

Tension and stress can cause a muscle to seize up in pain; they can also cause the connective tissue that covers that muscle to seize up. Tension can also block the tissue, preventing proper waste elimination and purification.

Medication can disturb the body\’s natural processes, disturbing the purification system that is naturally in place. Diet pills, sleeping pills and diuretics can all lead to cellulite; oral contraceptives, which increase the body\’s oestrogen, cause fat cells to enlarge, leading to water retention. Retaining water inhibits the body from flushing the system of toxins, leading to the formation of cellulite.

Lack of exercise contributes to the formation of cellulite. Exercise decreases many health risks and also helps fight cellulite. It improves muscle tone, circulation and overall well-being, helping to break blocked tissue and purify the body.

Cellulite Treatments

There are three main treatments for cellulite; namely, endermologie, cosmetic surgery, and topical creams or lotions.

Endermologie

The Endermologie machine, developed in France over a decade ago, has been found to have an effect in fighting cellulite. It uses rollers and gentle suctioning to deeply massage the affected areas, increasing circulation. Toxins and abnormal water buildup are expelled as connective fibres are stretched. Endermologie also exfoliates the skin, leaving it soft and silky. The increased circulation may give you a natural energy boost. Many sessions are normally needed. This can add up to several hundred dollars.

Cosmetic Surgery

Treatments like liposuction (surgery to remove fat) and mesotherapy (injection of drugs into cellulite) are either expensive or may produce only temporary improvement. Many doctors advise against liposuction to reduce cellulite because it is designed to remove deep fat instead of cellulite, which is close to the skin. This is performed by a plastic surgeon and can be expensive compared to other methods. Consult with your doctor if you want to explore this further.

Cellulite Creams or Lotions

This is the safest and most popular way to reduce the problem. Because cellulite is actually little pockets of fat under your skin, your blood circulation does not easily reach these areas. Specially formulated creams can help.

Some of the ingredients used in these products include :

Algae extract – which can help break down fat and increase your metabolism.

Green tea extracts – will back up the algae extract and increase the rate at which your fat is broken down to form smooth tissue.

Retinol A – a compound that is a derivative of Vitamin A and targets your skin and connective tissues directly to condition and strengthen. Retinol A has a rejuvenating effect on your skin, and will decrease your cellulite while preventing it from becoming worse over time. It can improve your skin\’s texture, so your skin will become smoother and firmer and this helps your cellulite vanish even faster.

Creams or lotions are the most economical of the three treatments, however like the others, it may take a couple of months to see measurable results.

Seeds placed in Norwegian vault as agricultural ‘insurance policy’

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

The Svalbard Global Seed Vault, a vault containing millions of seeds from all over the world, saw its first deposits on Tuesday. Located 800 kilometers from the North Pole on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen, the vault has been referred to by European Commission president José Manuel Barroso as a “frozen Garden of Eden“. It is intended to preserve crop supplies and secure biological diversity in the event of a worldwide disaster.

“The opening of the seed vault marks a historic turning point in safeguarding the world’s crop diversity,” said Cary Fowler, executive director of the Global Crop Diversity Trust which is in charge of collecting the seed samples. The Norwegian government, who owns the bank, built it at a cost of $9.1 million.

At the opening ceremony, 100 million seeds from 268,000 samples were placed inside the vault, where there is room for over 2 billion seeds. Each of the samples originated from a different farm or field, in order to best ensure biological diversity. These crop seeds included such staples as rice, potatoes, barley, lettuce, maize, sorghum, and wheat. No genetically modified crops were included. (Beyond politics they are generally sterile so of no use.)

It is very important for Africa to store seeds here because anything can happen to our national seed banks.

Constructed deep inside a mountain and protected by concrete walls, the “doomsday vault” is designed to withstand earthquakes, nuclear warfare, and floods resulting from global warming. Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg called it an “insurance policy” against such threats.

With air-conditioned temperatures of -18 degrees Celsius, experts say the seeds could last for an entire millennium. Some crops will be able to last longer, like sorghum, which the Global Crop Diversity Trust says can last almost 20 millenniums. Even if the refrigeration system fails, the vaults are expected to stay frozen for 200 years.

The Prime Minister said, “With climate change and other forces threatening the diversity of life that sustains our planet, Norway is proud to be playing a central role in creating a facility capable of protecting what are not just seeds, but the fundamental building blocks of human civilization.” Stoltenberg, along with Kenyan Nobel Peace Prize laureate Wangari Maathai, made the first deposit of rice to the vault.

“It is very important for Africa to store seeds here because anything can happen to our national seed banks,” Maathai said. The vault will operate as a bank, allowing countries to use their deposited seeds free of charge. It will also serve as a backup to the thousands of other seed banks around the world.

“Crop diversity will soon prove to be our most potent and indispensable resource for addressing climate change, water and energy supply constraints and for meeting the food needs of a growing population,” Cary Fowler said.

Ideas On How To Download Free Psp Games And Movies Three Methods However Which Is Best?

Submitted by: Fleur Adela

Sony’s PSP or Playstation handheld is a fantastic part of technology-as perfectly to be a top flight games machine it will see all kinds of media and be utilized for internet applications etc. In short it’s a great part of hardware-however the thing which puts many people off is the cost of the games. Wouldn’t which be different when you knew how with download free PSP games and videos? It’s extended been recognized which the internet is a area where you can download free games and videos for many techniques, yet limited persons know which with a PSP you have a limited different options on how and the best place to do it-the right item is the fact that they are all 100% legal! There are hundreds, or even 1000 of different places where you can download free PSP games and videos, however they largely fall into the three following categories:1- A completely free of charge service-There are sites which allow you download games and stuff completely free of charge, yet I personally wouldn’t recommend them. Firstly, I always question the legality of things like this, and secondly, their games are always out of date and quite often download in an unworkable structure, and thirdly in many situations you’re going to get hit by a barrage of ads/popups etc, and any viruses/spyware they may present with your personal computer. If these guys are going to break the law and give away free games, who claims they may not be going with hack your personal computer? I avoid these things.2- A “free” membership site which once you’re closed up with you can easily then download as many games etc as you want from. Technically it’s free because the membership is free, yet then the minute you try to download anything they’ll ask you for a fee. Not too cool really. I moreover remain away from these because A, I don’t like shock fees, and B, again I’m uncertain how legal this can be, though they do claim with be legal.3- These kinds ofsites are the ones I will heartily recommend. I found a limited effective ones but haven’t looked back. I truthfully haven’t paid for a PSP game or movie in over a year, but have some terrific titles! Sites like these charge a tiny one off fee, and then you have access with hundreds and thousands of different games and videos, all at high download speed with no extra expense. This really is the best method to download free PSP games and videos because the one off fee is typically regarding the same expense of a new game, thus basically for the expense of a upcoming full cost game you may be playing each PSP game ever released-if you have which much time on your hands which is! The actual downloads themselves can be tricky, but should you stick to reputable sites they will often provide you with the important software included in the package. So there you have it, those are a choices when you are looking with download free PSP games and videos. Personally I might recommendoption 3, as a few of these companies are great and you won’t think the sheer selection of different games and videos accessible with you. Happy hunting!
