Mystique of Inner Beauty – Your Inner Intelligence

by

Peter Winslow, Life Coach

Think about this: after you ve eaten, you digest the food, right? So how do you digest and assimilate what you eat, and then eliminate the waste without ever knowing how it works?

The answer is. . . you don t have to know, because the work is done by an intelligence that lives within you. Call it what you want nature, instinct or higher awareness this inner intelligence is found in every living creature on earth. It s there now, working below your consciousness, directing bodily functions without you paying any attention to it. But what s really interesting is that your inner intelligence pays close attention to you.

Your inner intelligence responds to your thoughts and emotions, and for better or worse, you re communicating with it all the time. Here s an example: studies show that stress disrupts the normal function of the digestive system. Stress is a mental condition; mental and emotional stressors cause physical symptoms like loss of appetite and ravenous eating binges. Stress also impairs the proper absorbsion and uptake of nutrients, and causes a host of irregularities with elimination and excretion of waste from the body. Tolerance for everyday stress is a key indicator for balance and proper function of the mechanisms at work in our bodies.

Your body s inner intelligence is a mysterious and beautiful companion, constantly guiding you in the direction of health and wellness. If you cut your finger, you can watch as it seals the wound back together over time. It s ever vigilant, always at work in you and through you regardless of the medical treatments you take.

Now open yourself to a larger and richer idea. Think of healing as a form of higher consciousness, an aspect of your inner beauty that literally watches over you with intention and benevolence. It s the spirit that directs an incredibly complex and delicate balance of the physical and subtle energy systems in your body that maintain intricate relationships with each other and work together for the greater good of the whole organism you.

I ve found it s helpful to think of this not in terms of science, but as a philosophy. Philosophy means the love and pursuit of wisdom. This wisdom brings an awareness of unconditional self-love, an inner power that protects you and wants you always to be well.

I know it can be difficult or controversial for some to think of healing this way. Many people don t buy the idea of a higher consciousness or a meaningful connection between mind and body. This may be due to the fact that western medicine takes a purely scientific approach to healthcare.

For centuries, medical schools taught their students that the mind had little or no effect at all on the body, and that something as nebulous as stress couldn t possibly alter the complex functions of anatomy and chemistry at work in a human being. Medical professionals have admitted they just didn t see how on earth it could be that simple. Today, many are redefining their practices to include mind-body and other alternative models, recognizing the significance of these strategies.

When we speak of inner beauty and healing, we re talking about things that can t be accurately quantified by scientific control groups and empirical data. Statistics are uncertain and variable; medical practitioners are at best only able to state the odds for healing from an ill condition. If you re given good chances for success, you feel better, more confident, with a strong expectation for a happy outcome. That positive attitude makes a big difference to your inner intelligence; it takes your thoughts and feelings and works them out to their logical conclusions in the body.

When you re willing to incorporate the linear left-brain sciences of modern medicine with the right-brain functions of attitude, art and imagery, you ll achieve success above and beyond the baseline of either alone. This is work we must do for ourselves but, unfortunately, most people aren t aware of it. Some people cannot entertain these beliefs at all, even when their lives may depend on it.

It may surprise you to learn that healing is a concept rarely discussed in allopathic medical schools. These schools expand the citadels of medical research and education by discovering new and amazing technologies which support their professions. They re focused on the physical sciences that govern matter and molecules, the tissues they can observe with the tools of technology. They discover ways to interact with the body, and they translate their findings into methods of treatment.

Healing, on the other hand, is what you do. You own the healing energy free and clear; the doctor doesn t prescribe it and nobody can sell it to you. The power of healing is with you now, and it will never leave until you die. Cut the finger on a cadaver and the wound won t sew itself back together because the healing essence has left the building along with the life force within him.

This means that the healing essence in living tissue is linked to the source of life within us. It has never been conclusively defined by modern science or agreed upon by the world s cultures and religions. The essence that does the healing in our bodies hasn t been seen under a microscope. That s why evidence-based mechanical medicine doesn t focus on it directly.

You came to life equipped with a healing power, the province of an inner intelligence that supervises, repairs, operates and builds your body from the ground up. What s more, it ever endeavors to keep your body moving toward optimal health and wellness, even when your behavior or the environment gets in the way.

I find it especially intriguing that we don t need to know how it works to tell it what we want it to do. You ve got an instinctive inner intelligence that already knows what it needs to, operating in every one of the trillions of cells in your body. Your objective is to communicate positive and meaningful messages to it. There are many ways to do this, and fundamental among them is a shift in attitude.

Let go of the limiting beliefs that no longer serve you, and replace them with a bigger picture of who you really are. You are much more than you think, even more than you can think. Your body is a universe in itself, made of galaxies of atoms, elements and systems and mind is the radiating nucleus around which it revolves. Expand your definition and awareness of inner beauty to include the benevolent healing essence within you. You ll look and feel better, empower your self-image, and bring lasting health and happiness to the coming years of your life.

Venezuelan President Chavez in Beijing to boost trade

Friday, August 25, 2006

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez arrived in the Chinese capital of Beijing, Wednesday, beginning a visit that will see new agreements to increase China’s investment in Venezuela’s petroleum, telecoms, agriculture and transport. Chavez says that his country intends to boost its oil exports to China to 500,000 barrels a day within five years, quadrupling its current exports, and up to one million barrels a day by 2012.

“Within five years we’ll arrive at half a million barrels (a day) to China. We are currently exporting close to 150,000 barrels (a day), and next year we will double that,” Chavez said.

“The oil issue is of utmost importance because we are diversifying the petroleum business. We are moving toward a new petroleum model,” said Chavez, speaking on Venezuelan state television from China. “It’s one step more in a strategic alliance.”

Chavez met Chinese President Hu Jintao on Thursday, senior leader Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday. Following Thursday’s meeting, Chavez said that Jintao agreed to support Venezuela’s bid to join the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member. He is also discussing Chinese involvement in developing his countries gold and coal mining industries, according to reports.

The countries are also signing agreements for Chinese assistance in building a petrochemical plant within the Amuay oil refinery in western Venezuela.

Agreements are expected to be signed with two of China’s state owned oil companies to develop and export crude from Venezuela’s Orinoco river basin as well as to approve the sale of Chinese oil tankers to Venezuela.

While the United States remains the leading importer of Venezuela’s oil, Chavez’ left wing government has sought to diversify its trading partners in an attempt to reduce its reliance on the United States and promote a “multi-polar” world order.

China is the world’s second largest consumer of petroleum and is in need of increased oil supplies in order to maintain its rapid pace of economic growth.

Chavez told Venezuelan state television that increased trade with China and Russia will help boost Venezuela to medium-power status. He claimed that investment agreements with China will transfer technology to his country and help Venezuela escape dependency.

Monday, March 30, 2009

First becoming famous in her native Ukraine in the 1990s, long-haired self-described “Amazon” Ruslana gained international recognition for winning the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Wild Dances,” inspired by the musical traditions of the Hutsul people of the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains.

In the five years since, Ruslana has decided to use her name and public status to represent a number of worthy causes, including human trafficking, renewable energy, and even the basic concept of democratic process, becoming a public face of Ukraine’s Orange Revolution and later serving in Parliament.

Currently, she is on an international publicity tour to promote her album Wild Energy, a project borne out of a science fiction novel that has come to symbolize her hopes for a newer, better, freer way of life for everyone in the world. She took time to respond to questions Wikinews’s Mike Halterman posed to her about her career in music and her other endeavors.

This is the fifth in a series of interviews with past Eurovision contestants, which will be published sporadically in the lead-up to mid-May’s next contest in Moscow.

GWAR announce Dave Brockie arts foundation

Saturday, April 12, 2014

The surviving members of satirical metal band GWAR yesterday announced a charitable arts foundation in the name of Dave Brockie. Brockie, 50, died last month.

Founding frontman and singer Brockie spent 30 years leading “Earth’s only openly extra-terrestrial rock band”, which actually hailed from Richmond, Virginia. Their obscene lyrics and theatrical live shows brought fame to Brockie, who went by stage name Oderus Urungus, and the fellow Virginia Commonwealth University art students that made up the band.

GWAR unveiled the foundation in a video statement yesterday. Amongst the stated aims are providing support to artists who cannot acquire funds via traditional routes and “the advancement of music, images, letters and performances in the arts”. The foundation is also to preserve Brockie’s body of work and promote his legacy.

“We would like to thank fans and friends for their outpouring of love”, the band said.

A public memorial for Brockie is scheduled for August 15, and the annual GWAR-B-Q is to go ahead the next day. Drawing a line between the stage persona and the man who played it, the band add “Just face it — Oderus would order you to be present and pay tribute to Dave Murray Brockie, his own personal slave!”

Donations can be made at the GWAR-B-Q and via GWAR’s website. The rubber-costumed band remains to publicly decide if they will continue to perform and record. They say the foundation’s first task will be to fund and erect a monument “to provide the world with a place to pay respects to the memory of a very cherished man”.

Wikinews interviews Bob Ely, Democratic Party presidential challenger to Barack Obama

Saturday, May 26, 2012

U.S. Democratic Party presidential candidate Bob Ely of Illinois took some time to answer a few questions from Wikinews reporter William S. Saturn.

Ely, a graduate of Yale University, worked for 18 years as an investment banker in Chicago before leaving the industry in 2000 to become a full-time investor and entrepreneur. Last year, he opened a campaign website and filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) as a candidate challenging President Barack Obama for the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

Thus far, Ely has appeared on the Democratic primary ballot in New Hampshire, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. His strongest showing occurred in Louisiana, where he won 6.57 percent of the vote, finishing in third place behind Obama and attorney John Wolfe, Jr.. Discussing the primary, he told Politico that despite being “a candidate who bought no ads and did exactly zero campaigning,” he won 120 of Louisiana’s 4,395 voting precincts, and defeated President Obama in 457. Overall, Ely has won a total of 15,502 primary votes.

On Tuesday May 29, Ely will appear on the Texas primary ballot alongside Obama, Wolfe, and historian Darcy Richardson, who suspended his campaign last month. It will be Ely’s last chance to qualify for Democratic National Convention delegates. Four of his fellow challengers have already done so: anti-abortion activist Randall Terry and perennial candidate Jim Rogers both qualified in Oklahoma, Wolfe qualified in Louisiana and Arkansas, and prison inmate Keith Russell Judd qualified in West Virginia. For various reasons, the Democratic Party stripped the delegates from each of these candidates.

On his campaign website, Ely outlines a plan for a “job’s bank”, which would use the existing organization for unemployment benefits to create a program where businesses can hire individuals to new positions with government salaries of minimum wage. He also wants to make it easier for businesses to terminate employees, and has proposed an increase in taxes and tariffs. He is concerned about the federal budget deficit and wishes to significantly reduce government spending. On other issues, Ely has proposed a plan for “basic health care” coverage, endorses “amnesty” for illegal immigrants in certain situations, and supports a strong, but frugal military used only to “protect America, Americans and America’s clear national interests”

With Wikinews, Ely discusses his personal background and views of President Obama, a few details about his campaign, and such political issues as jobs, energy, taxes, and nuclear proliferation.

UK energy companies announce that prices for bills could increase

Saturday, September 19, 2009

Six energy companies in the United Kingdom have announced that it is likely that the prices for energy bills could increase over the course of 2010.

The companies, which are nicknamed the “big six” in the United Kingdom, did not pass on information that there would be price cuts in energy bills despite increasing profits. However, the companies have in fact sent a message in response saying that the prices of bills may even increase over the course of the next year. Energy company watchdog the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) have estimated that energy companies will make gross margins of £170 ($276) per dual fual customer over the course of the next twelve months, due to the recent fall in wholesale energy costs.

Ofgem have said: “Our analysis shows that based on an 18-month hedging strategy and assuming that retail prices remain unchanged, projected gross margin is set to increase by around £80 for dual fuel customers over the next six months.”

The “big six” energy companies in the United Kingdom are British Gas, E-on, Npower, Scottish and Southern Energy, Scottish Power, and EDF Energy. British Gas stated: “Prices [are] likely to remain at historically high levels, and in fact likely to increase as non-commodity costs rise ever upwards.”

EDF Energy said: “[We] would of course be prepared to reduce tariffs if market conditions allowed.” Scottish Power stated: “There are no immediate signals that would indicate a fall in retail prices for this winter, and risks of an increase next year.” Scottish & Southern Energy commented: “With forward annual wholesale prices significantly higher, and with upward pressures in terms of distribution, environmental and social costs, seeking to avoid an increase between now and the end of 2010 is an important goal.”

Meanwhile, a study by Consumer Focus in early September 2009 suggested that “energy companies were overcharging customers by £100 ($162) every year. A spokesperson for Ofgem said that there was no evidence of any cartel in operation, or evidence of profiteering. The spokesperson commented: “It is up to the companies themselves to decide whether to cut their bills. Consumer Focus data suggests that Scottish Power has increased dual fuel prices by the most since 2003 – up 148% – while decreasing prices by 0.6% so far this year. RWE’s Npower has increased tariffs by 132% since 2003, but has reduced bills by 2.7% in 2009.”

Ambidextrous children more likely to have problems at school, say researchers

Monday, January 25, 2010

Researchers say that ambidextrous children are at greater risk of difficulties at school, language problems, and disorders such as attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) than those who are left-handed or right-handed. Dr Alina Rodriguez, from the School of Public Health at Imperial College, London, and a team of researchers from various European universities studied nearly 8,000 children from the north of Finland; 87 of these were ambidextrous (mixed-handed). Parents, teachers and the children themselves assessed language skills, academic achievement and behaviour. At ages 7 and 8, the ambidextrous children had double the rate of language problems and were twice as likely to have problems at school. At age 15 and 16, the proportion of those with ADHD symptoms was twice as many in the ambidextrous group, and their ADHD symptoms tended to be worse. Ambidextrous children in the study also had a higher rate of language problems.

The number of people who are ambidextrous is unclear, with estimates ranging from 1% to 5%. Scientists do not know why some people use both hands when the majority of people prefer to use one predominantly. The theory is that there is something different in the brains of ambidextrous people, although Rodriguez says that more work in the area is needed.

A person who prefers using their right hand will have a more dominant left hemisphere of the brain, which is the part of the brain for language skills. Rodriguez and her researchers have suggested that the right hemisphere of the brain of an ambidextrous child is weaker compared to that of a right-handed child, increasing their susceptible to problems with attention. Previous suggestions about the causes of ADHD include the possibility that a person’s right hemisphere has weaker function. Earlier studies have drawn links between dyslexia and being ambidextrous, and other studies are looking at the part that differences between the two sides of the brain play in language skills and psychosis.

Rodriguez emphasised that the research, published in the journal Pediatrics in the United States, did not show that all ambidextrous children would have such problems, pointing out that most of the children in the survey did not develop them. “Our study suggests that handedness is really a marker for atypical foetal brain development — showing that the brain is working in a different way to the norm”, she said, adding that other studies have shown atypical brain development to be associated with extraordinary creativeness. She also suggested that the results may assist schools and health care workers in targeting children at risk of problems.
